Conservation is recognised as a specialist discipline. New Zealand has not previously offered education in conservation philosophy and practice and in not having done so has established a cultural psyche with respect to heritage. Education is a critical part in recognising, managing and celebrating New Zealand’s unique and distinctive cultural heritage. In response to this shortcoming we have committed to establishing a range of educational and advocacy initiatives which has seen policy guidance within the NZIA.
